So we are still alive over in this neck of the woods and have been filling each and every day (almost) with as much holiday happiness as we can. Despite saying I was not doing any photo shoots in December I have somehow managed to do at least 10 so between that, holiday prep, etc. I guess my blog was the last thing on my to do list.
I cannot even begin to recap everything that has happened in the last month so I will just start with last weekend: We got our tree--finally. We got it late for good reason but because we got it late I wanted to get it from a lot...already cut...less mess, less mud, less cold, more happiness...you see?? BUT it just "wouldnt feel right if we didnt cut it down" says ahem, Karl and so out we go to a tree farm to do our traditional cut down the tree. We get to the first farm and well, no trees taller than Emilee in sight..the girls and I did not even get out of the car because it of course started raining...hard. Off to the next tree farm where Karl got out to scout it out for a minute coming back to the car to report "we for sure can find one here"....so out we all pile..Karlee forgot a coat and yeah, it's still raining. We walk around and there are honestly no.good.trees. AT.ALL. but then we go to bring the saw back to the old gentleman waiting out there to take our money and he looks so sad that we are not buying a tree and well, I couldnt handle it sooooo I ask him for any good tall nobles....he says he has "lots of them" and proceeds to tell me about the two on his lot...we check them out and they are yucky soooooo we find a tree that is reasonable (not really) and everyone thinks it is a fine tree....(except for both Karl and I) but he still saws it down, ties it to the car, and away we go....both of us apparently seething inside because at this point Karl had apparently decided that maybe the lot I wanted to go to in the first place was OK to finally check out after all.....sooooo we head to the lot (not before Karl asks to be let out of the car so he can just randomly walk home in the rain about 5 miles and no, I did not let him)....get to the lot and within 2 minutes I had a tree picked out and what did we do??? We tied that one to the top of the suburban too and right now we have one beautiful tree all decorated in its rightful place (the tree from the lot of course) and one tree standing outside in the doggie water bowl waiting to be decorated for the porch....so that is the story of our tree this year...the first year we have ever fought about the Christmas tree....and hopefully the last (right sweetie??) :)
